Final Study Guide

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

So here is a quick reference guide to the final exam for this semester.  Below you will find a break down of the questions as well as some quick links to study materials, that APUSH review website has great stuff!


For the Short Answer questions you must be able to connect broad time periods and historical events.  Here is a sampling of common short answer topics.  Some of these MAY be on the test, but also MAY NOT be.
  1. Early America (1491-1754)
    1. Native Americans before Columbus
    2. Comparing different colonial empires
    3. The Columbian Exchange/Triangle Trade
  2. Revolutionary Period (1754-1800)
    1. Causes and Consequences of the American Revolutionary War
    2. America under the Articles of Confederation and transition to the Constitution
  3. Early Republic (1800-1848)
    1. Republican values (motherhood, education, etc.)
    2. Republican politics (Political parties and events of the era, don't forget about the Whigs!)
    3. Social issues (Second Great Awakening --> Reform Movements)
    4. Slavery
  4. The Civil War (1848-1877)
    1. Causes and Consequences of the Civil War
    2. Reconstruction
  5. Industrial America (1865-1900)
    1. The Frontier and the West (Native Americans & American exceptionalism)
    2. Rise of the City (changes in technology & society)
    3. Industrialization (Factories and labor unions)
