January 27

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Today in class we will be discussing the Prohibition Era and the Crash of 1929.  Should be fun!  We will be watching two different videos (one for each topic).  These are both fun and depressing topics all in one!  First we will be watching an episode of the Simpsons that does a great job of illustrating the prohibition era with satire in about 20 minutes.  Then we will be watching a documentary on the crash of 1929 that is super informative and interesting.  I'm excited!  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

Objectives:
  1. Describe prohibition by viewing a modern pop culture TV episode
  2. Describe the stock market crash of 1929 and evaluate the causes of the Great Depression
Agenda:
  1. Warm-Up #6
  2. Video Discussion: Prohibition
  3. Video Discussion: Crash of 1929
  4. Closure #5
Homework:
  1. Nightly Readings
  2. Chapter 23 Quiz on Wednesday
  3. Outside Reading project due March 27 (8 weeks)
That's all for today ladies and gentlemen!  Hope that you are doing well!  Its always great to see you guys!  I can't wait to see you on Monday!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Live long and prosper,

Mr. Marchetti
