August 16 - The First Day of School

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Welcome to your first day of APUSH!  This is going to be sweet!  Fair warning, this class is tough!  We are going to cover a lot of information today and you have homework!  This is an AP course, that means that I have high academic expectations for all of you.  For those of you who are looking for some added rigor but also want to maintain some sanity, there is the Accelerated option that we will talk about in class today (you have until September 15 to make that decision).  I am a history fanatic and I expect all of you (regardless of how much you personally like history) to treat this class with respect.  I am always excited about this course because I am a specialist in U.S. History.  Let's do this!  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

Objectives:
  1. Review course design and syllabus through discussion and questioning
Agenda:
  1. Seating Chart (Find your number)
  2. Introduction: Who is Mr. Marchetti?
  3. Distribute: Textbooks
  4. Review: AP Curriculum and Syllabus
Homework:
  1. Google Classroom Assignment
    1. Period 2 - vouvpn
    2. Period 4 - 3ba0oa
  2. Syllabus Signature
    1. There are some major changes for this year's course.  Mostly in the outside essays and test point values.  Please review carefully.
  3. Print Unit 1 Assignment Sheet
  4. Read Chapter 1
  5. Print and Read Why Study History
That's all for today ladies and gentlemen.  I hope that I didn't shock you with too much information.  This class is fun if you put the time and effort into it that it deserves.  Don't forget your homework!  We have our first Chapter Quiz on Monday!  I hope that you all have a wonderful first day of your Junior year!  Take care!

Live long and prosper,

Mr. Marchetti
