August 18 - Historiography

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Welcome to your first hard core day of APUSH!  Man this is gonna be fun!  We are going to delve into the "Why Study History" reading, go over not taking, AND talk about historiography!  If you aren't jacked about this stuff yet, I don't know what to tell you ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.  I am very interested to hear your thoughts regarding Why we Study History, and I hope that you reflected on the reading before coming to class today.  I think it is an important way to start the year in an Advanced Placement class.  If you have any questions I encourage you to ask me any and every thing that comes to mind!  Let's do this!  below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

Objectives:

  1. Discuss the skill of Cornell Note Taking
  2. Analyze the reasons for studying history through discussion
  3. Use the critical skills of a historian to contrast differing perspectives of history.

Agenda:

  1. Submit: Syllabus Signatures
  2. Recap: Homework Reading Assignment
  3. Warm-Up #1
  4. Skill Building: Note Taking
    1. Kerwin's Note Taking Guide
  5. Read and Discuss: Historiography
  6. Closure #1

Homework:

  1. Finish Historiography Assignment
  2. Study Chapter 1 and a little of Chapter 2 for quiz on Monday (through Columbian Exchange)

That's all for today folks!  Don't forget that we have our first chapter quiz (Chapter 1) on Monday!  Also don't forget that there is a little bit of chapter 2 on the quiz so I would definitely read ahead!  I hope that this hasn't scared you too much.  As long as you pace yourself and stick with it you can be more than successful here!  Have a wonderful weekend!  Take care!
