November 27 - FJT Frontier Thesis

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Welcome back from our long weekend!  I hope that you all had a restful Thanksgiving!  It is wonderful to see you all again!  Today in class we will be discussing the concept of the frontier and an important 19th century American historian, Frederick Jackson Turner.  This is a bit of an historiography lesson as well as a history lesson.  The concept of the frontier is important for the late 19th century and the impact of its "closing" is equally significant to the landscape of modern America!  I love this stuff!  I hope that you can find it within yourselves to enjoy it as much as I do! 😀.  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

Objective:
  1. Analyze Turner's Frontier Thesis through review of guided questioning and group discussion.
Agenda:
  1. Warm-Up #1
  2. Discussion/Activity: Frederick Jackson Turner
    1. EdPuzzle Activity
Homework:
  1. Chapter 17 Quiz on Wednesday
  2. Second Research Paper due December 4!
  3. Outside Reading Project due December 8!
That's all for the day ladies and gentlemen!  It was great to see you all!  I always miss you when we are apart.  Hope you had fun today!  Take care and have a great evening!

Live long and prosper,

Mr. Marchetti
