Hello ladies and gentlemen,
If you are looking for something to do this summer that maybe helps you learn a little I highly recommend this podcast - The History Chicks. In each episode they go into detail on the life of a famous woman or women from history. Obviously I would recommend women from American history for this class but they are all pretty good!

Hope you are having a good summer!

Finals Week and Farewell!
Hello ladies and gentlemen,
Well here it is! We are at our last week of school! The last 12 weeks have been interesting to say the least. You have literally lived through one of the most significant events in world history in the last 100 years. This pandemic has been scary and difficult, we have had to make massive adjustments to the way we live. I hope that you have been able to adjust and continue working hard. You deserve a relaxing summer break, but remember to stay safe!
Before we go to summer do not forget the End of Year Project that is due tomorrow (June 2)! I will try to get those scored and returned to you quickly! I am so proud of the work you did for the AP Exam, as well as the AP Exam itself! You rose to the challenge and I am so proud of you!
Keep an eye out for messages from the school about returning school materials. We will need those APUSH textbooks back! I have not heard yet when that will be occurring but it will be imperative that you get it done in a timely fashion. When I get information regarding this I will share it with you all.
I am proud of the work that you have done. I hope that you were able to continue learning and growing while sheltered in place. It will be important going into next school year that you have the skills necessary to continue your academic advancement and growth. Take the summer to relax and center yourself. We don't know yet what the Fall will bring. Hopefully there can be a more normal state of things, but that is unclear at this time.
I have missed you all very much over these past weeks and months. I miss being in the classroom enjoying our conversations. I miss interacting with you all. Despite the disruptions I know that you will be well and do well in your future.
Live long and prosper,
Mr. Marchetti

May 12 - Mr. Marchetti write a DBQ Example
Hello ladies and gentlemen,
Welcome to the Tuesday before the AP Exam! So for today I have a video of myself writing a DBQ essay in response to an AP Prompt. It was a challenge since I haven't done this in years! In the video I break down how I approach writing a DBQ and write one while providing commentary. Along the way I show you some of my recommendations for how to approach the various potential problems that you might run into along the way. It was a fascinating experience! Remember that if you get your Practice DBQ essay written and turned in by Wednesday I will do my utmost best to grade and provide feedback before the exam!
DBQ Practice
If you have any questions, want any advice, or just want to talk let me know and I can be available! This is the start of a stressful week, especially for those of you who have more than just the APUSH exam!
I believe in you all! I know that you can do this! Just make sure to do your prep and be ready to go on Friday!

Live long and prosper,
Mr. Marchetti
I have been spending most of my free time reading these days. Watching a few shows here and there.
Here is what Mr. Marchetti has read so far:
- Doing a Virtual Book Club with my Friends so far we have read
- Ready Player Oneby Ernest Cline
- Pretty good book! Definitely better than the movie but I liked the movie as well. It has a great science fiction backdrop and also a ton of pop culture references for people my age and older.
- The Kingdom Keepers: Disney After Dark by Ridley Pearson
- Pretty good YA book that ties in with Disney parks. Takes a while to get interesting but once it does it is fun. Recommend for people who enjoy Disney Parks.
- On Basilisk Station (Next on our list) by David Weber
- I've read this one before. It is part of the Honor Harrington series which is a great science fiction military/political story.
- Reading on my own
- Star Trek Picard: The Last Best Hope by Una McCormack
- Ties into the recent Star Trek Picard series. I didn't finish unfortunately because I got distracted by other books but it was an easy read and good up to the point I read.
- Flu: The Story of the Great Influenza Pandemic of 1918 and the Search for the Virus that Caused it by Gina Kolata
- This was a great and eye opening history of the science and history behind the Flu. Gives a rundown of what happened in 1918 and then focuses on the search for the 1918 virus. It is pretty scary to think that they have recreated the most deadly disease in human history in a lab in Atlanta.
- Pale Rider: The Spanish Flu of 1918 and how it Changed the World by Laura Spinner
- Another good book on the 1918 flu. This one I chose because I wanted more history of what happened during the 1918 Flu. It was eye opening. I didn't realize how devastating the Flu was or how much it impacted the world. Probably much more influential than World War I but few have known or talked about it.
- Vicksburg: Grant's Campaign That Broke the Confederacy by Donald L. Miller (Currently Reading)
- So far this is a great book! Really enjoying the look at the western theater of the Civil War, which many ignore over the more famous eastern theater. Also learning more about Grant which is interesting.

AP Exam Update/Clarification
Hello ladies and gentlemen,
I hope that everyone is doing well and spending that time getting prepped for the AP Exam! Its actually getting close! There are quite a few people that still need to finish and turn in the Time Period 2 Review and the Time Period 3 Review is due tomorrow so make sure you are on top of these and getting the work done!
I have one quick update/clarification that I just saw this morning. The DBQ for the modified AP Exam will be limited to Units 3-7! So pay extra attention to those units!
As always if you need help or have questions please email me or post a comment. I miss you all!
