February 24

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Unfortunately I was not with you all today.  I missed you all!  I hope that you had a great day and were able to complete the tasks (or as much as possible) below.

In class today you will be working on a timeline activity that will "map" the path that the United States took into World War II.  The directions will be distributed by the substitute today but in case you are in need of a digital copy here you go:

Road to World War II Poster

Be sure that while you are researching and creating your timeline you focus your attention on how the events you choose effect the United States' decision to enter World War II.

I am somewhat flexible on the due date for this assignment, just be sure that you accomplish as much as you can today in class because it is the only class time you will receive to work on it.

Don't forget that on Thursday we have our Chapter 24 Quiz as well as our New Deal Presentations.

I look forward to seeing you all again soon ladies and gentlemen!

Live long and prosper,

Mr. Marchetti

Today in class we took our Chapter 23 Quiz and afterward you had time to work on and finish your New Deal Presentations.  Remember that these Presentations should be finished today!  We will be taking notes on your presentations when we return from the break and the only thing I require is that you print out a copy of your slides for me on the day of presentations.

Today was our last day together before the winter break!  Have a great break everyone!

February 10 - Start New Deal Project

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Objective:  SWBAT research a New Deal program and create a PPT presentation.

Today in class we began with a short discussion/activity about Prohibition.  We watched a short satirical cartoon and took some notes on it.  After that we began our New Deal Project.

For this project you may work alone or with one partner (your choice).  You will be creating a Google Presentation/PPT that will present research regarding a New Deal program.  Be sure to be thorough and detailed in your research.  You may access the directions for the project below:

Here are some websites that may be a good place to start researching:

Researching New Deal Historic Resources

This project must be complete by the end of class Thursday.

Happy working!

February 9

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

As always it was wonderful to see you all today.  Because of our time constraints we are going to postpone the writing HW from the Crash of 1929 video.  So no HW tonight!

Today in class we wrapped up the Crash of 1929 documentary and began to discuss Prohibition during the 1920s and 1930s.  Tomorrow in class we will begin by finishing our discussion on Prohibition and then we will be starting a New Deal project.

We will be using Chrome Books/Computers for the next two block periods to work on the project.

Have a great evening everyone!

Live long and prosper,

Mr. Marchetti

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Today in class we took our Chapter 22 quiz and discussed loans and credit cards in the context of the 1920s and today.  We talked about the dangers and benefits of having a credit card as well as making sure to make smart decisions regarding loans in your future lives.  After the quiz and discussion we continued watching and taking notes on the Crash of 1929 documentary video.

I will be gone tomorrow so I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Today in class we first watched short clip from Thoroughly Modern Millie and discussed the changing roles or women in the 1920s.  After that we registered for the AP exams at the bank.  If you were unable to register today you should have other opportunities, either in another AP class you are in, or you can go to the bank on your own and register later this week or next.  After that we began watching a documentary, The Crash of 1929, and began taking notes and discussing the events leading up to the Stock Market Crash and Great Depression.  Make sure you took good notes as you will need them for a writing assignment we will be doing after we finish the documentary on Thursday.

Don't forget the Chapter 22 quiz is on Thursday as well!

Live long and prosper everyone,

Mr. Marchetti

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Today in class I collected your Unit 6 Outside Essays.  If you were absent I expect your essays as soon as possible.  After that we had a short discussion comparing Wilson's 14 points with the Treaty of Versailles and discussed how the United States moved towards isolationism in the aftermath of World War I.  After our discussion you had time to finish your DBQ activities and either turned it in today or will be turning it in at the beginning of the period tomorrow.

I look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Live long and prosper,

Mr. Marchetti
