Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Today in class we will be discussing the Spanish-American War!  This is the only major foray the United States takes in the era of imperialism.  We do a few other smaller things, such as annexing Hawaii, but the Spanish-American War has by far the largest impact on the U.S. in this era of global imperialism.  We will be talking about it and (time permitting) creating a graphic organizer illustrating the causes and effects of the war.  We also have our Chapter 20 Quiz today and your Unit 6 Essay is due tonight!  Hope you didn't procrastinate too bad!  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

Objectives:
  1. Demonstrate content knowledge on the changing American society in the Progressive Era
  2. Analyze the cause and effects of the Spanish-American War through discussion and illustration using a graphic organizer

Welcome Back!

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I hope that you have had a restful break!  I did my best to get my rest in but had a ton of work to do also.  I mostly cleaned house, sold some stuff on Ebay, and had fun with friends and family.  Had a game night with a couple of my friends and played a few great games.  We played the new legacy game Seafall, my favorite haunted mansion game Betrayal at House on the Hill, a fun war game Star War Armada, and of course our favorite card game Dragon Ball Z.  Also spent a lot of time with my wife, which was great since we both had a very busy Fall Semester.  It was much needed!

I hope that all of you were able to have fun and rest over the break.  I am very much looking forward to seeing you all again soon!  I missed you all so much!  Enjoy your last day before we start (Monday) and I will see you Wednesday!

Live long and prosper,

Mr. Marchetti
