Today in class we will be taking a post-AP curriculum quiz (we took this way back at the beginning of the year!).  After the quiz (which is participation credit) you will have the rest of the period to work on your Timeline Projects!  Remember that the Timeline is due to Google Classroom by 11:59 at the latest!  Late work WILL NOT be accepted!  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

Today we will be reviewing the DBQ and LEQ and then practicing some writing skills.  Specifically we will be identifying Historical Thinking Skills and practicing writing a thesis to several LEQ prompts.  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

Agenda:

  2. Workshop: DBQ and LEQ Review
    1. On a separate piece of paper complete the following tasks
      1. Identify the HTS (Comparison, Causation, CCOT, or Periodization)
        1. Briefly describe the HTS and explain how it can be answered by the prompt
      2. Write a thesis that follows the formulas below
        1. Although [counterclaim], [claim] because of [evidence A, B, and C]
        2. Make sure to have a CLAIM and answer the WHOLE prompt
    2. LEQ Prompts
      1. Evaluate the extent to which the Declaration of Independence marked a turning point in American history, analyzing what changed and what stayed the same from the period immediately before the declaration to the period immediately following it
      2. Evaluate the extent to which increasing integration of the United States into the world economy contributed to maintaining continuity as well as fostering change in United States society from 1945 to the present
      3. Historians often disagree about turning points in U.S. History.  Analyze the reasons that a historian might choose the year 1968 as a turning point in U.S. History.
      4. To what degree did the U.S. government adopt a strict laissez-faire policy during the Gilded Age, and to what degree did it vary from a strict laissez-faire policy
      5. To what degree and in what ways did the Civil War and Reconstruction alter the political, economic, and social fabric of American society?
      6. To what extent was the period following the War of 1812 an "Era of Good Feelings"?

Synthesis Rubric Change
Not HUGE but something to be aware of.  You can STILL get a point for addressing something outside the time period but its harder to get a synthesis point for counterargument now.

REMINDER: AP pre-registration

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Welcome back from Spring Break!  I bet you all are as excited as I am!  So for the next couple of weeks we are preparing for the AP Exam.  If you want to be successful on the exam you will need to spend a little time every day reviewing.  Utilize the review materials on the side panel of the blog as well as the Adam Norris website to supplement your own review process.  We will be introducing the Timeline Review Project today, which will be due next Friday the 29th.  Also don't forget we have part 2 of the Common Core State Test on Wednesday!  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.
