April 28

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

First we passed back papers and then reviewed some sample test questions.  We reviewed some of the new style Document Based Multiple Choice Questions as well as Short Answer Questions.

Today in class you will be doing a review activity for your Final Exam as well as the AP Exam next Friday, May 8.

For this activity you will need the following document

284 Things to know for the APUSH Exam

This is a list of terms/events/people/laws/etc. that represent a comprehensive understanding of the more important events in U.S. History.

For this activity you will need to organize the events into categories of your own creation and rank each event according to your understanding of their historical importance.  1 = Do NOT know anything about the topic, 5 = Master of topic.  Any events that you rank a 1 or 2 need to write up a basic description (When, What, Why?) to assist in your study, 3 to 5 write a short description of why/how it fits into U.S. history.

This is a review process for your ladies and gentlemen, don't forget about your Final Exam on Thursday!!!

Live long and prosper,

Mr. Marchetti

April 20

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Today in class we had our riveting discussion on Cups in order to sufficiently prepare you to take the Common Core State Exam on Tuesday and Thursday.

Remember it is vitally important that you know the three component parts of a Cup: the RIM, the BASE, and the CUP WALL.  If you do not know these you may have difficulty with the performance task on Thursday.

You Will Need to Bring Headphones for the Common Core State Test.  I will have a limited supply to offer so it would be a good idea to bring your own!

Remember that we will be taking the Math portion of the Common Core State Exam during our periods Tuesday and Thursday this week.  Don't forget to start studying for the AP Exam on May 8!

Afterward I returned your essays that I graded over the break.  For comments I created a key which I provide below.

Essay Comments Key

1 – Improper Citation
2 – Word Choice problem
3 – Awkward sentence/phrase
4 – Historical/Factual Error
5 – Spelling mistake
6 – No personal pronouns
7 – Be Specific
8 – Write out numbers
9 – Use academic language
10 – Repetitive
11 – improper use of quote

Live long and prosper everyone!
